Steve's Bio

I'm a born-and-raised, third-generation Calgarian. I live in Scenic Acres with my beautiful wife Karen and 9-year-old son Jackson, who's the apple of my eye!  I spent 8 years living in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, where my father had a contract to run the provincial park campgrounds.  I attended school at Elboya Jr High, where I also learned to speak French.  I went to Western Canada High before moving to Kananaskis Country at the age of 14.

At the age of 17, I attended the University of Victoria (UVIC) where I studied for a bachelor of science degree in biology.  I also attended SAIT, where I enrolled in business administration, majoring in marketing.

I started my first business when I was 8 years old, it was a lemonade stand!  I delivered 240 newspapers for the Calgary Herald from the age of 11 to 14.  At the age of 16, I found myself running a home service for computer repairs and upgrading, the "geek squad" of Kananaskis.  In 2002, I worked for a couple of years as a partner and Director of Marketing for a Calgary based web start-up.

I was inspired to start a construction company as a sole proprietorship in 2004.  During the company's growth phase, my father helped me for a few years by supporting expansion efforts.  I value the time we spent together during these years.  He taught me the value of hard work and how to innovate in business.  The company grew and expanded, and I began working on larger-scale projects in the hospitality industry.  Renovation work in the Hotel Arts Building and the Delta Calgary South are among the projects I'm most proud of.  Karen has been running the company for the last year and a half, and I always say, she's 'arguably better at it than I am'.

Our construction company has worked with hundreds of the best small, medium, and large sized companies in Calgary.  We've been at the helm of projects that have created over 140 well-paying jobs.  I am a team builder who manages teams and challenges the status quo as a professional, honest entrepreneur.  My budget for marketing over the past 17 years is under is nearly zero as I have created long-term relationships with so many clients and am proud to report our business has grown on word of mouth.  Click here to read my endorsements.

When I am not on the campaign trail, I’m hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, snowboarding, camping, reading, learning, hitting the gym, playing in the neighborhood with my family, and of course, most importantly getting out and volunteering in the community.
